El' Devi: The Story
How They Got Here
They started as a country duo playing a lot of Johnny Cash, Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton.
Pete is Greek, Jo is Croatian, and thus the 'Ethnic Cowboys' were born.
Chris Atkinson then joined them on percussion, and the 3 piece repertoire expanded to a more rock vibe with an ethnic influences.
They have opened for the likes of Darryl Braithwaite for the RFDS Outback Ball, Drapht & Adrian Eagle for the SALT Festival, as well as opening for the Red Hot Summer Tour and the likes of Suzi Quatro, The Angels & Shannon Noll.
The included Johnny Murray into the line-up which took them to the next level with a massive rock show that you can party hard to and dance the night away.
They have toured all over South Australia playing for pub crowds, major events, fundraisers, weddings as well as in the middle of nowhere, from shearing sheds on stations to the back of million dollar yachts tucked behind remote islands for the better part of 8 years.
With their new original album, they decided to change the name of their band, and El' Devi was born...
(You can read more about the name change in the 'About' section)
Ever since they came together in 2010, they have found great joy and satisfaction in making music and sharing it with fans and people all over the world. Being in a band for this long requires a lot of dedication from all members, but their passion and love for music has driven them to stay strong while overcoming personal and professional challenges. Being through so much together has only brought them closer, and their hope is to stay true to their main objective which is to make music that they love, and be able to connect and relate to you all through it.
